Bled, an exciting discovery

Bled is a paradise in itself and is also a perfect base for discovering the delights of the surrounding area and further afield. The following places are some of the favourite destinations for visitors to Bled.

Attractions in and around Bled

Bled Island
The most popular way to get to the island is to be rowed across the lake in a traditional ‘pletna’ boat. Once there, you shouldn’t miss the chance to ring the wishing bell in the wonderful medieval chapel, which is said to make your dreams come true.

Bled Castle
The twin symbols of Bled are the island and the magnificent mysterious clifftop castle. The castle is accessible on foot, by car, or by hiring a horse-drawn carriage. It offers the best views of the lake and the surrounding area and has a museum, restaurant and outdoor terrace.

Horse-drawn carriage ride
It is as difficult to imagine Bled without its beautiful horse-drawn carriages as it would be to imagine the lake without its swans. A relaxing romantic ride around the lake is the most popular choice, but the ‘fijaker’ will be happy to take you further afield to the castle, the golf course, or nearby villages.

Vintgar gorge

T he waterfalls, pools and rapids of the Radovna river embellish the Vintgar gorge, which is surrounded by steep slopes, densely forested with beech and is only a few kilometers from Bled.

Babji zob Cave
The entrance to this beautiful cave is only 4 km from the campsite.
